If you are not sure which one is your resident school, you can call our Superintendent’s office at 906-225-4200 for assistance. We have one middle school (grades 6-8): Bothwell Middle School (BMS). We have two high schools (grades 9-12): Marquette Senior High School (MSHS) and Marquette Alternative High School (MAHS).

Resident Families (families who live within the MAPS District boundaries)

Online Enrollment is an application only. Enrollment will not be complete until the required documents have been submitted.

The deadline is May 16, 2025, for requesting a building for the 2025-2026 school year.

Non-Resident Families (families who live outside the MAPS District boundaries but within the Marquette-Alger RESA)

School of Choice is currently available for grades K & 2-12 for the 2025-26 school year. The application period ends August 22, 2025.

Students must reside within the Marquette-Alger RESA to be eligible for School of Choice at MAPS.

Families Moving to Area

If you are moving to the area but do not yet have a Marquette resident address, please wait until you have a Marquette resident address to complete this online enrollment application.

Kindergarten/Junior Kindergarten Age Requirement

If you are registering for kindergarten, please note that according to Michigan Law (MCL 380.1447) children are required to be five years old on or before December 1 of the school calendar year in which the child attends school to attend kindergarten. This minimum age requirement is the same for entering junior kindergarten as it is for entering kindergarten.  You will need to complete a Kindergarten Waiver Request if your child is not five years of age on September 1, but will be five years of age not later than December 1 of the school year you are enrolling in.

Kindergarten Registration

Complete the Online Enrollment Application process.

This is an application only. Enrollment will not be complete until the required documents have been submitted.

If your child is currently attending ECSE or junior kindergarten at MAPS, you do not need to enroll in kindergarten as you are already registered.

Children who are in the ECSE or junior kindergarten programs are enrolled in kindergarten in their resident school.  If you wish to request a building other than your resident school, please fill out an In-District Transfer Request by May 16, 2025.  Non-resident school of choice children who are attending junior kindergarten will be placed in one of our four buildings for kindergarten based on availability.  If you wish to request a building, please fill out a Building Transfer Request (for Non-Resident Pupils) by May 16, 2025.

Finalize Enrollment

You should  contact your child’s resident school to schedule an appointment to finalize enrollment. Enrollment must be finalized before your child can start school.  You will need to bring the following documents to your appointment to finalize enrollment:

  • Birth Certificate - From County Clerk's Office - we will make a copy

  • Proof of Residency - Driver's license or recently dated gas, electric, trash, water, or utility bill; property tax bill; lease; mortgage; or renters or homeowner's insurance

  • Immunization Records - A copy of your child's shot records. Here's a link to Vaccines Required for School Entry in Michigan. For Elementary school students, a Health Appraisal form needs to be filled out by you, your child's physician, and your child's dentist.  A copy of this form will be available at your appointment.
