Strategic Planning

Dear Community,

We are pleased to announce MAPS will have a different look to start the 2014-2015 school year. The Board of Education voted to realign the district into a K-5, 6-8, and 9-12 configuration. In the new configuration, Sandy Knoll, Superior Hills, Cherry Creek and Graveraet will serve as K-5 schools. Bothwell Middle School will house 6th-8th grade students. Marquette’s Alternative High School will relocate to Vandenboom. Additionally, the developmental kindergarten and early childhood special education classrooms will move from Vandenboom to Sandy Knoll.

How might this realignment affect your son/daughter? With the creation of a K-5 scenario, your child will have the opportunity to attend one or two more years in elementary school. Some redistricting will be required to create a K-5 school at Graveraet and to make room at Superior Hills and Sandy Knoll.

We welcome parental and community involvement as we continue to grow MAPS as the “Destination District.” Your voices will help guide us to a better, brighter future. I hope you will not hesitate to contact any member of our school community with any thoughts or suggestions regarding school improvement or concerns you may have. Great opportunities await us.

Thank You for your continued support!

Sincerely
