Welcome to Marquette Area Public Schools. Whether you are a parent, student, community member or visitor, our intent is to support your needs and exceed expectations. This website is intended to provide meaningful information and reliable direction. MAPS is a unique center of learning among Upper Peninsula K-12 school districts. Enrollment exceeds 3,000 students, ranking Marquette first in student populations among 66 regional public education systems.
Our students consistently achieve at high levels on local, State and National assessments. Michigan Merit Exam results indicate that our 2008-09 Junior Class ranked in the 92nd percentile Statewide, exemplary among most public school districts. Marquette Senior High School’s 2008 graduation rate was 94.06%. In addition to three K-4 elementary programs, a 5th grade intermediate school, a 6th through 8th grade middle school and a 9th through 12th grade high school, early childhood and other student needs are met through Vandenboom Child Development Center and the Alternative High School. The district covers 123 square miles of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Marquette Schools border the campus of Northern Michigan University.
